Work in development- Nicole's micro-commission- Crooked Lane, an extract of an modern theatre adaptation of Bronte Classic The Tenant of Wildfell Hall is being workshopped with Rise and Howl productions and Ilkley Playhouse, commissioned by Bronte Society.
VisitNicole has worked with the Bronte Society Parsonage Museum to develop a series of work based on her experience as a local writer, around the ideas of home, childhood and women's experiences. She has researched from their rare archives, delivered workshops at the Bronte Festival of Women's Writing on developing children's work ideas and sustaining writing practice, appeared on their podcast ‘Behind the Glass’ sharing a poem inspired by Anne Bronte and is developing an extract of a modern theatre adaptation of Anne’s lesser known but bitingly brilliant The Tenant of Wildfell Hall. Nicole is collaborating with Ilkley Playhouse to workshop and showcase the extract.
VisitNicole was awarded an Arts Council England Developing Your Creative Practice grant to progress her practice as a playwright to the next level, supported by the Royal Exchange Theatre Manchester. She was mentored by a leading Dramaturg, an experienced award-winning writer mentor and dramaturg, explored international and fringe theatre and wrote a new ambitious large-cast and scale play, which was workshopped with support of Sheffield Theatres with their Young Company and local actors, directed by a prominent theatre director. With additional support from Leeds 2023 Expanding Horizons programme, Nicole was able to visit New York, exploring work of scale and received mentoring from Chief Executive Producer of The Shed theatre. .

Composer: Tommi Bryson, Musical Director: Tom Crathorne, Puppetry: Kathleen Yore. Nicole’s new play My Big Cousin, received a two-day development period while Nicole was on attachment as a Bank Cohort Writer at Sheffield Theatres. My Big Cousin explores the relationship between two cousins with a generational gap who try to find common ground while going on a special adventure which doesn’t quite go to plan. For ages 5+, with music and puppetry.
